Tools and materials you will need

For the templates and drape mold:

  • This pdf guide, printed

  • One 20” x 18” piece of scrap cardboard, chipboard, or foam board (choose a material that is sturdy and cuts easily)

  • One 18”x 5” piece of flexible material that is water resistant, such as craft foam, canvas, or wax/parchment paper

  • Glue (I prefer Tacky Glue, but Elmer’s glue or a hot glue gun will work.)

  • Tape or glue stick

  • X-Acto knife or other sharp blade

  • Cutting surface, such as a self-healing mat

For the clay construction:

  • Your favorite clay

  • Slab roller OR rolling pin and thickness guides for slab rolling (long paint stirrers or yard sticks work well and are usually 1/4” thick)

  • plastic rib or credit card (I prefer the red Mudtools rib) for compressing clay slabs

  • X-Acto knife, or other blade

  • Optional: Pony-roller

Optional if you’d like an extra challenge by making personalized texture templates:

  • 2mm-thick craft foam (also known as EVA foam. Can be found in rolls in some stores & online, such as Amazon.)

  • 2mm-thick craft (EVA) foam with adhesive backing. Can also be found in rolls online.
