Tools and materials you will need
For the templates and drape mold:
This pdf guide, printed
One 20” x 18” piece of scrap cardboard, chipboard, or foam board (choose a material that is sturdy and cuts easily)
One 18”x 5” piece of flexible material that is water resistant, such as craft foam, canvas, or wax/parchment paper
Glue (I prefer Tacky Glue, but Elmer’s glue or a hot glue gun will work.)
Tape or glue stick
X-Acto knife or other sharp blade
Cutting surface, such as a self-healing mat
For the clay construction:
Your favorite clay
Slab roller OR rolling pin and thickness guides for slab rolling (long paint stirrers or yard sticks work well and are usually 1/4” thick)
plastic rib or credit card (I prefer the red Mudtools rib) for compressing clay slabs
X-Acto knife, or other blade
Optional: Pony-roller
Optional if you’d like an extra challenge by making personalized texture templates:
2mm-thick craft foam (also known as EVA foam. Can be found in rolls in some stores & online, such as Amazon.)
2mm-thick craft (EVA) foam with adhesive backing. Can also be found in rolls online.
